Real Madrid suffered a triple injury blow in their last game before the international break against Osasuna with Eder Militao, Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo all leaving the field with fitness setbacks.
The Brazilian defender faced an ACL injury and is thus out for the season in what comes as a massive blow to the team’s plans.
The remaining duo, however, suffered less serious injuries and are hoping to return in the coming games, especially after enjoying two weeks off to fast-forward their recoveries.
The latest update
Now, as relayed by AS, both players are progressing well with their returns and are pushing to feature in the near future.
Rodrygo and Vazquez will both be unavailable against Leganes for sure and remain doubtful to feature against Liverpool at Anfield, although they are not completely ruling out timely return as well.
The Brazilian has already begun working with the ball but can dream of a return against Liverpool although it is unlikely. In any case, he will almost certainly return at least for the team’s clash against Getafe next weekend.
Vazquez, meanwhile, is also gunning towards a return against Getafe with Liverpool looking unlikely. In any case, the manager will be thrilled to have two key players back in the mix in just over a week’s time.
The big hurdle, however, is getting past Liverpool without their services. Federico Valverde appears set to play in the right-back position as it stands with an extra-midfielder likely to fill the void created by Rodrygo’s absence.
Once the duo is back, Vazquez will undoubtedly continue as a starter at right-back and free the Uruguayan back to his role in midfield. Rodrygo, meanwhile, will continue making a strong stance to play in the forward trio.
