Australia opener Usman Khawaja has been cleared of delayed concussion and passed fit to play in the second Test against the West Indies in Brisbane.
Khawaja, 37, retired hurt in their 10-wicket win in the first Test after being hit on the chin by a Shamar Joseph bouncer with the scores level.
He was seen spitting blood but a scan showed no damage to his jaw.
“Khawaja was assessed again today and has no symptoms of delayed concussion,” said a Cricket Australia statement.
It added that the left-hander would train with the team on Tuesday before the day-night Test starting at 04:00 GMT on Thursday.
Khawaja’s availability means Australia avoid having to find a second new opener of the series after Steve Smith was promoted to replace David Warner, who retired from red-ball cricket after Australia’s 3-0 series win over Pakistan earlier in January.
