It marks the fifth time the 27-year-old has been crowned Sportswoman of the Year, while Cavendish now has 10 Sportsman of the Year accolades to his name.
Speaking to Manx Radio, external, Cavendish said it was “always a great evening” because “you almost take for granted what an incredibly sporting nation we are for 85,000 people”.
“When you see the achievements that every athlete here has, it makes you proud – across motorsports, across cycling, across ball sports, we’re a little island that loves sports and a little island that punches well above its weight,” he said.
Wimbledon debutant Billy Harris and TT sidecar siblings Ryan and Callum Crowe were among the other winners at the awards, picking up the Ambassador of the Year and Team of the Year prizes respectively.
