Matt Fitzpatrick won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship individual title – and also triumphed in the pro-am team event with his mother Susan.
England’s Fitzpatrick, days after winning the Ryder Cup with Europe, finished three shots clear of Marcus Armitage, Matthew Southgate and defending champion Ryan Fox.
That was after 67, 64 and 66 rounds at Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and St Andrews.
Weekend rain meant the event was cut to 54 holes and ran until Monday.
Fitzpatrick, who led by one shot while he waited for two days for rain to clear on the courses, is the second player after Padraig Harrington to win the individual and team event in the same year.
He and Susan won the pro-am by five shots at 35 under after scores of 64, 58 and 59.
“It doesn’t get better than this,” Fitzpatrick, 29, said. “Winning at St Andrews, it’s just a very special place. We’ve been coming here for a long, long time as well and it doesn’t get better.
“We played last year and didn’t quite play so well and this year she’s played fantastic and I played really solid as well. You just couldn’t ask for a better week.”
Susan added: “It’s been such a great week. It’s amazing they managed to get us out today but it’s been such a great day. I enjoyed the course and played at a great pace.”
