India have rested pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah for the fourth Test against England in Ranchi, starting on Friday.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the decision was taken “keeping in mind the duration of the series and amount of cricket he has played in recent times”.
Bumrah, the world’s number one-ranked men’s Test bowler, is the only frontline pace bowler in either side to have played in all three Tests so far.
India lead the five-Test series 2-1.
Bumrah, 30, is the top wicket-taker in the series so far, taking 17 at an average of 13.64.
Batter KL Rahul again misses out with a quad injury and will be assessed again before the final Test in Dharamsala next month.
Fast bowler Mukesh Kumar, who was released from the squad for the third Test in Rajkot, has joined up with the squad in Ranchi.
India have come from behind to lead the series against England with a 434-run win in the third Test.
