MLS side Atlanta United are set to sign Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath for a fee of $28m (£22.5m).
The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international has scored 27 goals in 59 Championship appearances since joining from Swiss side St Gallen in August 2023.
It is understood that Latte Lath has always been Atlanta’s first choice in this transfer window despite also having interest in Crystal Palace’s Odsonne Edouard and Benfica’s Arthur Cabral.
Atlanta, who re-signed Newcastle United midfielder Miguel Almiron on Thursday, finished ninth in the Eastern Conference last season.
The deal for Latte Lath, which will be the biggest Boro have received for a player sale, will be structured in $22m (£17.6m) up front and $6m (£4.8m) in add-ons
Michael Carrick’s Teessiders are sixth in the Championship and signed Plymouth forward Morgan Whittaker earlier this month.
