England’s Dan Bradbury is aiming to set a new European Tour record for holes-in-one after making his third of the season at the Spanish Open.
The 24-year-old equalled Miguel Angel Jimenez’s record of three in a season on the 226-yard par-three third at the event in Madrid.
He is now targeting a record-breaking fourth during the rest of the campaign.
“Now I know that, I’ll be aiming at all the par threes, that’s for sure,” he said.
Bradbury hit his first hole-in-one in Abu Dhabi in January and repeated the feat at the SDC Championship two months later.
The Wakefield golfer hit the lowest score of the day with an excellent eight-under-par 63 in round three, to move himself into contention on 10 under after hitting 71 and 69 in the first two rounds respectively.
He is six shots behind leader Matthieu Pavon of France, with fellow Englishmen Nathan Kimsey second on 14 under par and Eddie Pepperell on 11 under.
“Front nine was fantastic, I got off to a hot start. I’ve made a few holes-in-one now and it’s the first time I’ve kept it going, so that’s nice,” Bradbury said.
As well as holding the record for holes-in-one in a single season, Spaniard Jimenez also has the highest total number of holes-in-one on the European Tour with his tenth arriving at the 2015 BMW PGA Championship.
