Former England and Manchester United defender Chris Smalling is on the brink of joining Saudi Pro League club Al-Fayha.
Smalling is poised to be a substitute for Roma on Sunday evening when his current club play against Juventus in Serie A.
The 34-year-old will then have a medical with Al-Fayha and, providing there are no issues, he will complete his move before the Pro League’s transfer deadline of midnight local time on Monday (22:00 BST).
It will end Smalling’s five-year spell at Roma, who he initially joined from United on loan in 2019.
He made more than 150 appearances for the Italian club but played just 12 games last season because of injury and is yet to feature this campaign.
He was part of the side that won the 2022 Europa Conference League final by beating Feyenoord and also played in the Europa League final defeat against Sevilla the following season.
Smalling was part of two Premier League title-winning squads at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson and won 31 England caps, his last coming in 2017.
