England captain Harry Kane “guarantees goals” for Bayern Munich, says Borussia Dortmund legend Roman Weidenfeller.
Bayern visit Dortmund in Der Klassiker on Saturday (17:30 GMT), with Kane having scored 14 goals in 11 appearances already this season.
That has taken him to 64 goals in 63 goals since moving to Bayern – including a hat-trick against Dortmund in November 2023.
Bayern head to the Westfalenstadion top of the Bundesliga – and 10 points ahead of their hosts.
Asked what the difference is between Bayern and Dortmund, Weidenfeller told BBC Sport: “One of the most important things about Bayern is Kane’s performances -14 goals is simply amazing.
“He’s a great player and guarantees goals for Bayern.”
Despite all of his goals, Kane, 31, is yet to win a trophy in his senior career.
In his first season for Bayern they were beaten to the Bundesliga by Bayer Leverkusen, were knocked out of the German Cup by third division side Saarbrucken, and lost to eventual winners Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Kane then captained England to the final of the European Championship, where they were beaten by Spain.
“It’s crazy about his lack of trophies,” said Weidenfeller, who spent 16 seasons at Dortmund and was part of the Germany squad that won the World Cup in 2014.
“Maybe this season will finally be the chance for Harry Kane to win the Bundesliga.”
