Hibernian striker Dylan Vente has joined Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle on loan for the rest of the season.
The 25-year-old, who joined Hibs from Roda last summer for an initial fee in excess of £500,000, has scored 11 times in 43 appearances for the Easter Road club.
Three of those goals came at the start of this season when he scored a hat-trick against Elgin City in the Premier Sports Cup.
Hibs have brought in four forwards this summer, including central strikers Kieron Bowie and Mykola Kuharevich.
PEC Zwolle were promoted to the Eredivisie in the 2022-23 campaign and comfortably retained their status in the Dutch top flight last season.
“Dylan is a player that I’ve really enjoyed working with every day because of his professionalism and desire to get better,” said Hibs head coach David Gray.
“He has undoubted quality, but at this moment in time it just hasn’t quite worked out for Dylan.
“His move provides an opportunity to go home and hopefully start playing regularly with a smile on his face again. I wish him all the best for the rest of the season.”
Vente scored 46 goals in all competitions for second-tier side Roda in the two seasons prior to joining Hibs.
He began his career with Feyenoord and played in the Champions League, Europa League and the Eredivisie as a teenager with the Rotterdam club.
“There’s been a lot of interest in Dylan over the summer and after serious consideration from all parties, we believe this is the right move for him at this time,” added Hibs sporting director Malky Mackay.
“The Eredivisie is recognised as one of the top leagues in the world, and this gives Dylan a chance to concentrate on his game and remind people what he’s capable of.
“Everyone at the club will be keeping a keen eye on Dylan, and wish him all the best for his loan with PEC Zwolle.”
