Great Britain’s mixed 4x50m team, Abbie Wood and Matthew Richards all won gold medals on day five of the European Short Course Swimming Championships.
Freya Anderson, Ben Proud, Lewis Burras and Anna Hopkin set a championship record of one minute 27.75 seconds in winning the 4x50m in Romania.
Wood claimed victory in the women’s 200m individual medley in 2:05.58.
Richards won the men’s 200m freestyle in 1:41.01 as he beat team-mate James Guy (1:41.12), who was second.
Britain’s Medi Harris also earned a silver medal by finishing second in the women’s 100m backstroke final.
The victory for Wood was her second of the event as she also won gold in the 400m individual medley.
“I think I should have backed myself more coming into this meet because it’s been amazing,” she said.
“It’s been tough doing the IM double but I’m really proud.”
Anderson swam the final leg of the 4x50m in what was a British and championship record.
“I’m really buzzing with that, I really didn’t want to let the team down, it’s such a great team of sprint freestylers and it’s out of my comfort zone but I’m so glad I could get the job done for the guys,” said Anderson.
