Ross Byrne has emerged as a possible injury doubt for Leinster’s Investec Champions Cup opener against champions La Rochelle in France on 10 December.
The fly-half has been ruled out of Saturday’s URC encounter with Connacht at the Sportsground with an arm injury.
Byrne sustained the injury in the early stages of his side’s 21-16 interprovincial derby win over Munster at the Aviva Stadium.
The Ireland international was attempting to tackle Craig Casey.
The 28-year-old was replaced by Ciaran Frawley and his injury now requires further examination.
“Ross Byrne will have further examination for an arm injury picked up at the weekend but has been ruled out of selection this week,” Leinster Rugby confirmed in a squad update published on Monday.
The Irish province’s Champions Cup opener is a keenly anticipated one given that the two sides have contested the last two finals of the competition.
La Rochelle emerged victorious on both occasions after two titanic struggles at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille and Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.
