Philadelphia 76ers centre Joel Embiid has been fined $35,000 (£28,800) for repeatedly making an “obscene gesture” against the Portland Trail Blazers.
The incident happened in the third quarter of Sunday’s game when Embiid made a two-point basket and was fouled by Malcom Brogdon.
Embiid, 29, subsequently missed the free throw, though the 76ers won 126-98 at Wells Fargo Center.
The Cameroonian is a six-time All-Star and was named NBA MVP in 2022-23.
Game highs in points (35) and rebounds (15) from Embiid helped the 76ers to record their second win of the season and they sit second in the Eastern Conference.
The 76ers host the Toronto Raptors in their next outing on 3 November.
