Three stages have now been shut at Leeds Festival, as Storm Lilian batters the site with strong winds.
The arena at Bramham Park, where Liam Gallagher is due to headline later, did not open as planned at 11:00 BST, organisers said, after previously advising campers to “stay in their tents” amid 60mph gusts.
Organisers also said the BBC Radio 1 stage and the Aux stage would not host any performances on Friday and later confirmed the second largest stage, the Chevron, would also close.
Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, Reading and Leeds Festival organisers said it has been a “tough morning” but they had aimed to open the arena by 14:00 BST on Friday.
They also said the first act, Bru-C, was due to go on at 15:10 BST “as per the schedule”.
The statement then confirmed the three stage closures for Friday but said the BBC Introducing stage will continue as normal from 15:00 BST.
It added: “More info on the Festival Republic stage to follow.
“Please await further information.”
It was unclear whether performances from acts such as Beabadoobee, Ashnikko or Artemas would be rescheduled.
However, Beabadoobee took to social media to say the news was “so sad”, suggesting her performance had been cancelled.
“I had a whole outfit planned,” she posted on X, followed by a broken heart emoji.
‘Stay in tents’
Meanwhile, singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Alfie Templeman posted on X that he was “really gutted” for those festival-goers hoping to catch his set at Leeds.
“Multiple stages are no longer standing and we’ve been told our slot is cancelled,” he said.
“Leeds we’ll make it up to you as soon as possible, so so much love to you all,” he added.
In a previous update, organisers had urged festival-goers to “look out for each other” as safety was the “number one priority”.
Campers at Bramham Park were earlier warned by the Met Office to secure their tents, with a yellow wind warning in place until 11:00 BST.
After bringing heavy wind and rain to parts of England, Wales and Scotland this morning, the storm has left the UK and is now bringing severe coastal gales to Denmark and Norway, the Met Office said.
For those attending Leeds the changes brought by the storm were a disappointment.
Ellie Rainey had travelled to Leeds from Blackpool.
The 23-year-old said she had been looking forward to seeing Beabadobee.
She was still hoping to catch Skrillex, Liam Gallagher and Catfish and the Bottlemen – although now that a third stage is closed, Skrillex is off.
“We’re only going for the day, so hoping the weather holds out.
“We’ve dressed warm and the nice outfits have gone out of the window,” she said.
Roads around Bramham Park, between Aberford and Thorner, are closed for the duration of Leeds Festival.
Around 90,000 people are expected at Bramham Park over the bank holiday weekend, as the festival marks its 25th year.
On Friday, as well as Liam Gallagher, Catfish and the Bottlemen and 21 Savage are among the acts taking to the main stage.
Other performances over the weekend include The Prodigy, Blink 182 and Lana Del Rey.
