The Golden Knights and Penguins met just four days ago in Vegas, with the Golden Knights coming out on top, 4-0. Ilya Samsonov recorded his second shutout of the season that night, stopping all 22 shots he faced.
Mark Stone was the standout performer in the contest, recording a goal and two assists. The 32-year-old is now up to 17 goals and 56 points in 49 games, eclipsing the goals and point totals he set last year.
Following the win against the Penguins, the Golden Knights fell short to the Los Angeles Kings, losing 6-5. Tomas Hertl recorded his first hat trick with the Golden Knights, putting him on pace to tie his career-high in goals.
Another Golden Knights player on the verge of setting a new career-high is Jack Eichel. The 28-year-old needs five more points to tie his career-high of 82 points with still 19 games remaining. He also needs just one point to equal William Karlsson's Golden Knights record for most points in a season. If Eichel continues to score at this pace, he'll finish the season with 26 goals and 100 points, reaching the 100-point plateau for the first time in his career.
Eichel will be tasked with slowing down an all-time great in Crosby. At 37 years old, Crosby is still a dominant force, recording 21 goals and 68 points in 64 games. Throughout his 20-year career, Crosby has never had a season where he scored under a point per game.
The Golden Knights have created a bit of separation in the Pacific Division standings. They took full advantage of their homestand and during that same time, the Edmonton Oilers struggled to get results. With a win tonight, the Golden Knights can take a six-point advantage.
Puck drop is at 4:00 PM PST at PPG Paints Arena.
