Giants 2025 NFL Mock Draft Roundup: Will Big Blue take QB at No. 3 or address other needs?

The Giants enter the 2025 NFL Draft with the third overall pick.

After a 3-14 season, how will New York use its first-round selection?

Here's what the experts have the Giants doing...

Tom Fornelli, CBS Sports

QB Cam Ward, Miami

Ward is not the "safest" bet among the QB options in this class, but he does have the highest ceiling. He's the guy who has consistently shown the ability to create explosive plays in college, both with his arm and his legs. He also has a tendency to try to do too much, which you get away with in college easier than you will in the NFL. As for the fit here, Brian Daboll got the Giants job because of the work he did with Josh Allen. While I'm not making a comparison to Allen as far as prospects, a lot of Ward's faults are similar to the ones Daboll had to iron out of Allen's game.

QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

With two-way star Travis Hunter still on the board, the Giants would face a difficult decision: add one of the most talented skill players to enter the draft in decades or prioritize the game’s most valuable position.

Ultimately, investing in a quarterback would be the logical move for a front office under pressure in 2025, especially with limited proven options available through other avenues.

Sanders has a strong foundation as a passer, with fundamentally sound throwing mechanics that give him the tools to develop at the next level. However, his most impressive trait may be his ability to limit mistakes. Since moving to the FBS, he has produced a negatively graded throw on just 10.9% of his dropbacks, a 97th-percentile mark.

CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado

Two-way talent in the Big Apple! I like it! The Giants had the second-fewest interceptions in the league in 2024 (five). The ballhawking Hunter can help New York do a better job of taking the ball away -- and score some touchdowns as a part-time receiver.

DT Mason Graham, Michigan

Dexter Lawrence is as good as they come, but they can’t do it alone. With the top QBs off the board, the Giants add Mason Graham alongside Lawrence, instantly acquiring one of the scariest DT tandems in the league. Graham is an instant impact contributor.

Christian D'Andrea, USA Today Sports

CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado

This isn’t the quarterback New York needs, but it’s a massive influx of talent that can spur growth on both sides of the ball. Hunter is some sort of mythical creature cursed to roam earth and he’s decided to make the most of it. He can punch up a young secondary alongside Dru Phillips (a rising star if 2024 is an indication) and Deonte Banks (a 2023 first round pick who regressed badly last fall). He can team with Malik Nabers to make life easier for whomever is throwing passes next fall.

Head coach Brian Daboll is on the hot seat despite being 2022’s AP coach of the year. Finding the right way to deploy Hunter would give him job security and, importantly, give a tortured Giants fanbase something to cheer for after enduring six years of the Daniel Jones experience.

Ryan Wilson, CBS Sports

QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado

Good luck finding someone tougher than Sanders. He'll stand in the pocket and take hit (after hit after hit) to make a play downfield. He's not the best athlete and doesn't have the arm strength of Cam Ward, but he does a lot of things really well. Would like to see him play on time more consistently, but part of that has to do with Colorado's inconsistent offensive line.

Cynthia Frelund, NFL.com

QB Cam Ward, Miami

The Giants must sort out the offensive line in free agency if they end up taking a quarterback here. Ward's ability to limit turnovers while extending plays would get this offense back on track and open up Brian Daboll's play-calling. It's worth noting that there were simulations in which New York traded down a few spots and selected an offensive lineman instead (such as Kelvin Banks Jr., who has plenty of experience and can play RT); in those scenarios, the Giants would likely look to add a veteran passer in free agency and/or select one later in April's draft.
