Emiliano Grillo excited the crowd during the 2025 Phoenix Open at TCP Scottsdale on Friday afternoon, sinking a hole-in-one.

The 155-yard ace landed in the cup on the fly at the par-3 16th hole, setting off a huge celebration from the three-story grandstand. After the shot went in, Grillo leaped into a hug with playing partner Rafael Campos, then another with his caddie before high-fiving his other partner, Seamus Power.

"It was perfect, perfect number. Just a full shot with the pitching wedge," Grillo said on Golf Channel as he walked to the green. "It was a little bit of a delayed reaction because we don't see it really well from 150, whatever we had. Just the crowd went nuts and so did I."

Grillo's ace was the 12th hole-in-one on No. 16 at TPC Scottsdale since the Phoenix Open moved to that course in 1987. The last player to do it was Carlos Ortiz during the final round of the 2022 tournament.

"You dream of these," he added. "I've been playing here 10 years and I got to see a couple. Every time you're standing there, you get that thought of 'What if this one goes in?' It was just perfect."

Grillo's ace was his second on the Tour, his first coming at the 13th hole at Royal Portrush during the 2019 Open Championship.

The spectators lived up to the tournament's raucous reputation, raining beer and other drinks with cans and bottles onto the green. That caused a delay as officials to clean up all the debris, rake the bunkers and inspect the green for damage. But Grillo's swish was certainly worth celebrating.

Those fans nearly had reason to erupt again when Michael Kim nearly sank a hole-in-one, also on No. 16. His high drive bounced on the green, then to the left of the hole, stopping just a few feet away.

Despite the hole-in-one, Grillo is tied for 61st at 2-under during the Phoenix Open's second round. However, Kim is tied for second at 10-under.
